Birth to 5 year Old Developmental Screening & Registration
The Barron Area School District is inviting all children ages birth to 5 who are not enrolled in school and live in the district to participate in our screening and registration on February 21 & 22 from 8:30 – 2:30 at the Woodland Elementary School.
New to our screening process is the additional involvement of the Barron County Birth-3 program. They will have specialists available to screen younger children ages birth - 3 years old. This allows you as a parent, to see where your child’s development is and to determine if your child would qualify for additional services
The purpose of this screening is to identify children who may need additional support before entering school. During our screening process, children will have an opportunity to participate in developmental learning activities along with receiving hearing and vision screening. Parents will then have an opportunity to discuss the results with school personnel. There will also be valuable information about the Barron Area School District and all of the early education options that we provide. The different options that you have as a parent are:
Barron Area Montessori Charter School: 3-9 years old (application process)
4K program: Almena, Woodland, Ridgeland/Dallas: 4-5 years old **
Woodland Early Childhood: 3-5 years old ***
Dallas Head Start: 3-5 years old (income based)
Kindergarten: Almena, Ridgeland/Dallas, Woodland (Traditional & Multiage): 5-6 years old* *Your child must turn 5 years old by September 1st 2012 to enroll in a KG program. **Your child must turn 4 years old by September 1st 2012 to enroll in a 4K program. ***3 year olds can only attend Woodland EC if they have special needs identified by school staff.
